The Latter-day Saints singles scene

Washington-area Latter-day Saint Rachel Morrissey

"You have to be thin and pretty and smart, and you're not allowed to be sad that you're not with someone, because that makes you feel like you messed up, but you're not allowed to be happy about not being with someone, either, because that's wrong. It's a hard church to be single in."

-- Rachel Morrissey, a Washington-area member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was quoted by the Washington City Paper.

Too true, this quote. But "thin" is subjective. Not too thin, please. It's impossible to be too pretty or too smart, but millions are too thin.

"Allowed" - - as if you are forced to do anything. Your religion doesn't place these requirements on you. You have. It doesn't matter where you are or what religion you are. Men are attracted to women who are a healthy weight. I'm LDS. I'm smart. I'm pretty. I'm . . . "amply built," LOL, but I don't mix up my success with men because they are or are not LDS.
